TWO cold-blooded killers shot a man dead in broad daylight yesterday after he fell out with loyalist godfathers.
Bobby Moffett was blasted in the face and body by hooded killers so cocky they wore high-visibility jackets.
The Red Hand Commando member died in front of dozens of shoppers on the Shankill Road in West Belfast.
Sources say the 44-year-old was killed on the orders of senior UVF members after wrecking the car and home of some of the organisation's most senior people in the area.
Witnesses said last night one woman screamed at the gunmen to stop but they carried on pumping bullets into their victim. It's claimed he had his jaw blown off.
replica Juicy Couture One Shankill source told the Daily Mirror: "He took a bat to the house of a UVF chief and vandalised his car on Sunday night. This was revenge."
Another witness said the gunmen fired up to four shots before fleeing along Conway Street. Robert Gray, 59, added: "I was walking down the road when I heard what I thought was a car backfiring.
"I turned and saw two guys carrying guns in orange tops and hoods.
"I ran over to see if I could help the bloke who was shot but I couldn't see his face as it was covered in blood.
"Lots of people were trying to help save him and the police and ambulance arrived about 10 minutes later.
"I'm still shaking because it happened so close to me.
"It's scary as I thought this sort of violence was over with."
Another source said Moffatt was a "tough guy" who stood up to local UVF chiefs and "paid the price".
The source added: "So much for this lot decommissioning all their guns."
Police cordoned off the area around the shooting, which took place yards from a loyalist mural as stunned locals looked on.
The Daily Mirror understands detectives are to scan CCTV footage taken from a Citybus that was passing as the shooting happened.
Yesterday the bus was being held inside the police cordon.
Local pastor Jack McKee visited a female witness in hospital. He said: "She is in a terrible state. She saw it happening and shouted at the gunmen to stop but her appeals were ignored as they continued to shoot their victim as he lay on the ground.
"She ran over to help the fella and her clothes ended up covered in blood."
Police described the murder as "a coldblooded, ruthless killing".
A PSNI spokesman added: "It is a chilling reminder of a violent past that everyone in the community hoped we had left behind.
"Police are following a number of definite lines of inquiry and will work with determination and professionalism to catch the killers."
Bandages and a spot of blood on the road marked where the victim fell and paramedics tried to save his life.
The gun attack has sparked fears of a fresh shooting spree among loyalists.
The murder comes a few months after the UVF said it had decommissioned all its weapons.
Ulster Unionist representative Bill Manwaring, who tried to help save the victim at the scene, appealed for no retaliation. He added: "The man's injuries
